Intriguing lectures from artists and leading art experts.
One of the most comprehensive exhibitions featuring the art of Henri Toulouse-Lautrec took place at Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center during the winter and spring of 2026. The exhibit, titled From Moulin Rouge to Music City: The Graphics of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, included 50 of the great French master’s lithographs and drawings. Park West Gallery Senior Director Morris Shapiro presented a lecture about the life and art of Toulouse-Lautrec at Monthaven. Artist Talk With Jim Sherraden

Selected works from the Marina Picasso Collection are on display at Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center through Nov. 9, 2025. The collection is on loan from Michigan’s Park West Gallery. John Block, Park West’s chief operating officer, persuaded Picasso expert Dr. Charles A. Riley to write a book about Marina’s trove. During an Artist Talk at the MACC on Sept. 13, 2025, Riley, who has authored a total of four books on Picasso, discussed this seldom-seen collection with undisguised wonder. He noted that all of Picasso’s major styles, from the Blue Period to Cubism, are represented in the exhibit, which was expertly curated by Leigh Hendry. Musicians in concert at the MACC
The MACC celebrated the start of summer with a Heritage Music Series concert featuring country music star Steve Wariner. A songwriter and guitarist with more than four decades of work in the genre, Wariner has scored 14 No. 1 country hits. He’s also had more than 30 Top 10 singles, with songs like “Some Fools Never Learn,” “Life’s Highway,” “Small Town Girl” and “Holes in the Floor of Heaven.” He’s a four-time Grammy winner and a Grand Ole Opry member. The MACC’s Heritage Music Series presents in concert musicians who’ve shaped music across genres. Songwriter Steve Dorff performed some his classic hits at this Heritage Music Series concert. An inductee to the prestigious Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in New York City, Dorff has written songs sung by the likes of Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Anne Murray, George Strait and Garth Brooks. Heritage Music Series: Steve Dorff

John Ford Coley headlined this Heritage Music Series concert at the MACC on October 30th, 2025. Best known for his role in the Grammy-nominated duo England Dan and John Ford Coley, this noted American singer, guitarist, classically trained pianist, actor and author contributed significantly to the soundtrack of a generation. His many memorable hits include “Love Is The Answer,” “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight,” “We’ll Never Have To Say Goodbye Again” and “Nights Are Forever Without You.” Coley moved to Tennessee in 1999 because he loved the Nashville music community. Robin Willis

HEALING ARTS COORDINATOR

Robin Willis is the MACC’s Healing Arts Coordinator. She also works as the Exhibition and Events Manager and Director of Outreach. Robin has a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Clemson University with a minor in Entrepreneurship. She is a multi-discipline artist with emphasis in writing, mixed media abstract painting, alternative process photography, collage, and book arts and binding. In addition to her art practices, she holds several healing modalities certificates, such as extensive kundalini yoga teacher training and education, Reiki master, systemic family constellation facilitator, and depth psychology-based therapy trainings. As an avid learner, she explores and encourages others in their exploration in art, psyche, and our relationship to the micro and macro worlds within and around us. Influenced by John Muir’s quote, When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe, she fuses art, healing, and organization throughout her work and personal life as a creative-scientist minded person.

Kaylin Warden

Creative Design and Operations Manager

Kaylin Warden serves as the MACC’s Creative Design and Operations Manager. In this post, she oversees the organization’s graphic design work for exhibitions, events and special projects. She also coordinates the MACC’s arts outreach activities and assists with bookkeeping, among other duties. Kaylin, above all, is passionate about the arts. It comes as no surprise, then, that she is now pursuing a master’s degree in art history. When she’s not at the MACC, you can find her reading her favorite books (especially ones dealing with maritime mysteries), cooking, gardening, playing with her cat and two dogs, and cheering for the Nashville Predators.

Ruth Chase

Regional Arts Director
Ruth Chase is the Regional Arts Director of Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center, joining the team in 2023. For Ruth, the job is all about community, bringing people together to uplift and educate artists and art lovers alike. Her role at Monthaven is to strengthen the local artist community and build connections that will enrich Hendersonville and our surrounding communities through art exhibitions, art education, and opportunities for regional artists.
 
Prior to joining Monthaven, Ruth worked in the arts for over 30 years and is a multimedia artist and graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute. Her artistic practice is inquiry-based and engages in community bridge-building. She was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Los Angeles, curated and juried exhibitions, and has taught at the Crocker Art Museum.
 
Ruth was awarded an Artist-in-Residence for Artist Activating Communities through a grant from the California Arts Council for three consecutive years. Her film Belonging screened at both the 18th Annual Nevada City Film Festival and Wild & Scenic Film Festival. She has received the Legendary Female Artist of Venice award, and she has exhibited in The Crocker Kingsley, the Museum of Northern California Art, and the Diego Rivera Gallery at the San Francisco Art Institute. Ruth also continues her work as a Curatorial Consultant and Art director for the Californian Indigenous Research Project, where she has worked with the local tribe since 2018.
