Black Vibrations is a bold celebration and exploration of the complexity of the Black experience, history, and culture. This group exhibition of more than a dozen Black artists from different backgrounds and generations serves as a platform for the celebration of Black history at the MACC. Artists participating in this exhibit include Michael McBride, a Tennessee State University art instructor best known for his celebrated mural of the late U.S. Rep. John Lewis in downtown Nashville, Rod McGaha, a noted jazz trumpeter and photographer, and Tricia Townes, a Nashville-based artist whose practice includes the creation of socially engaged artworks. Other artists in this exhibit include Omari Booker, Samuel Dunson, Leroy Hodges, Barbara Hodges, Ashley Mintz, Lakesha Calvin, Michael Mucker, Shadale Smith, Nadine Shillingford and XPayne.
The exhibit is curated by Donna Woodley, a TSU art instructor. For more information call (615) 822-0789.

Kaylin Warden serves as the MACC’s Creative Design and Operations Manager. In this post, she oversees the organization’s graphic design work for exhibitions, events and special projects. She also coordinates the MACC’s arts outreach activities and assists with bookkeeping, among other duties. Kaylin, above all, is passionate about the arts. It comes as no surprise, then, that she is now pursuing a master’s degree in art history. When she’s not at the MACC, you can find her reading her favorite books (especially ones dealing with maritime mysteries), cooking, gardening, playing with her cat and two dogs, and cheering for the Nashville Predators.
