Artist Talk: Morris Shapiro on the Genius of Toulouse-Lautrec
Sunday, March 29, 12 to 2 p.m., Monthaven Arts and Cultrual Center, $25
As part of its current exhibition From the Moulin Rouge to Music City: The Graphics of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center is hosting a special guest lecture featuring art expert Morris Shapiro. A senior gallery director at Park West Gallery, Shapiro will discuss how Toulouse-Lautrec’s commercial posters altered the trajectory of art history. Indeed, Toulouse-Lautrec paved the way for the pop-art revolution of the 1950s and ‘60s, which ultimately dissolved the boundary between fine art and advertising.
This artist talk is presented by the Park West Foundation. Seating is limited for the event, which will also feature a light brunch. To register and purchase tickets, click the button below.
