Monthaven Art and Cultural Center
Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center celebrates carnival time with a Venetian-style masquerade. This colorful event takes its inspiration from the annual festivals held in Venice, Italy during Medieval and Renaissance times. Decked out in elaborates costumes and masks, festivalgoers indulged their passion for live music and dance. The MACC’s masquerade is a tribute to artist Mark Kostabi’s exhibition City of Enchantment: Mark Kostabi in Venice, which is on display at Monthaven through February 11. In honor of Kostabi, who is not only a visual artist but an accomplished pianist and composer, pianist Lydia Warren will be performing some Italian compositions during the MACC’s masquerade. Vocalists from Nashville Opera will sing a few favorite Italian arias. Come dressed in creative cocktail attire and, of course, wear your carnival mask.
