Morris Shapiro is the senior gallery director of the Park West Gallery, which is the world’s largest art dealer. Over the course of his 40-plus-year career, Shapiro has overseen much of the writing about Park West’s vast art collection. As you can imagine, he knows a lot about the 19th-century French artist Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. A major exhibit of Toulouse-Lautrec’s works is on display at the MACC through April 5, 2026. These works caused a sensation in their time. For the pop artists of the 20th century, these posters were a bottomless well of inspiration. In this episode of MACC Talk, Shapiro joins host John Pitcher to discuss Toulouse-Lautrec’s tragically short life, his singular genius, and his indelible impact on art. The episode is sponsored by the Park West Foundation.
