FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 24, 2024) – The sights and sounds of Bavaria will be on full display at the Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center (MACC) this October when the MACC presents its Fourth Annual Artoberfest. This year’s festivities will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13.
“I can’t think of a better way to welcome autumn than Artoberfest,” says MACC Executive Director Cheryl Strichik. “Artoberfest has something for everyone. There’s arts and crafts for the kids, authentic German food and beer for adults, great music and a wide variety of artists and artisans showcasing their work.”
Children take pride of place at the MACC’s Artoberfest. The Kids Arts and Crafts Pavilion will be filled with such fun activities as pumpkin painting, face painting and more. A storyteller and caricature artist will also lend their talents to the event.
Visitors to this year’s Artoberfest will surely detect the subtle aroma of the Bavarian countryside. The MACC’s German Food Tent will provide an authentic taste of the Fatherland, with a table featuring German sausages, Bavarian kraut, purple cabbage, and warm German potato salad. Other food vendors will include Calidogs and Mag Mile Pizza. Nashville’s Marble Fox Brewing Company will sell their German craft beer.
Any Artoberfest worthy of its apple strudel will need some bona fide polka music. Back by popular demand is the band Polkawagen, which will perform two set featuring its unique blend of traditional, old-time and modern polka music. Nashville Opera on Wheels will hit the high C’s with a performance between 3 and 5 p.m.
People attending this year’s Artoberfest will have one more chance to see the MACC’s terrific exhibition Stairway to Heaven: Salvador Dalí’s The Divine Comedy. The exhibit features 101 engravings that illustrate Dante Alighieri’s famed 14th-century epic poem. Admission to this exhibit is $10.
Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center (MACC) is a jewel-box art museum and education facility housed in one of Tennessee’s most spectacular antebellum mansions.
