HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (August 2, 2021) – You may not know her face. But if you’ve ever called the Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center to register a child for art class or obtain information about an event, you surely know Tonya Mirtes’ voice. Mirtes, who has served as the MACC’s administrative coordinator for the past couple of years, has been promoted to deputy director effective Aug. 2, 2021, says MACC Executive Director Cheryl Strichik.

“Tonya has been instrumental in helping the MACC grow its art camps and classes,” Strichik says. “She has also proven to be a remarkably resourceful manager of our organization’s day-to-day operations, so I am thrilled to have her assume such an important role in our senior management.”

Mirtes brings valuable experience to her new post. A veteran of the non-profit world, she worked at Autism Tennessee since its inception, helping families with resources and support. She continues to be active in the disability community, working as a parent mentor with Family Voices of Tennessee. She joined the MACC in March 2019 as administrative coordinator, and in that capacity oversaw visitor and member relations, class roster maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, bookkeeping administration, curatorial shipping and receiving assistance.

Her work helping the MACC develop its online class registration system has been an important factor in the growth of the organization’s arts education programming. The MACC had approximately 350 students enrolled in its camps and classes when Mirtes first joined the staff. By the end of this year, its enrollment will surpass 600. In her new role as Deputy Director, Mirtes will oversee administration of the MACC’s growing school. She will also manage the organization’s day-to-day operations and support staff.

Mirtes has been a Nashvillian since 1990. She moved to Hendersonville in 2018. When she isn’t at Monthaven, she loves to spend time with her four sons, Luke, Daniel, Aaron, Noah and her husband Brad.

Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center is conveniently located off Gallatin Pike just three miles east of Rivergate Mall. The place serves as a haven for the arts, hosting major art exhibitions throughout the year.  It also offers classes and summer camps on art and film for children and adults. Monthaven Mansion is available to rent for weddings, receptions, showers, corporate team-building classes and private parties.  For more information, visit www.monthavenartsandculturalcenter.com or call (615) 822-0789.

Kaylin Warden

External Affairs Coordinator

Kaylin Warden joined the Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center staff in 2024 as External Affairs Coordinator. In this post, she organizes special off-site events and manages the organization’s external communications. She also works with the development department by updating the MACC’s customer relations database, and she assists the executive director in setting up exhibitions. Above all else, Kaylin is passionate about the arts. It comes as no surprise, then, that she is now pursuing a master’s degree in art history. When she’s not at the MACC, you can find her reading her favorite books (especially ones dealing with maritime mysteries), cooking, gardening, playing with her cat and two dogs, and cheering for the Nashville Predators.
