DESCRIPTION:Women have played an oversized role in shaping Nashville’s contemporary art scene. That’s the theme of a new book and exhibition at the Frist Art Museum titled In Her Place: Nashville Artists in the 21st Century. Katie Delmez\, a senior curator at the Frist\, and Laura Hutson Hunter\, arts editor at the Nashville Scene\, will be at the MACC to discuss this groundbreaking Frist exhibition\, which features nearly 100 works by 28 prominent Nashville women artists. They will also discuss and sign the book they co-edited for Vanderbilt University Press. This indispensable book includes insightful essays by some of Nashville’s top arts writers and historians\, including Delmez\, Hutson Hunter\, Joe Nolan and Vivien Green Fryd. It also features beautiful color images of the artwork in the exhibition. The book will be available for purchase at Monthaven.
