SUMMARY:Black Vibrations - Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:  \nBlack Vibrations is a bold celebration and exploration of the complexity of the Black experience\, history\, and culture. This group exhibition of more than a dozen Black artists from different backgrounds and generations serves as a platform for the celebration of Black history at the MACC. Artists participating in this exhibit include Michael McBride\, a Tennessee State University art instructor best known for his celebrated mural of the late U.S. Rep. John Lewis in downtown Nashville\, Rod McGaha\, a noted jazz trumpeter and photographer\, and Tricia Townes\, a Nashville-based artist whose practice includes the creation of socially engaged artworks.  Other artists in this exhibit include Omari Booker\, Samuel Dunson\, Leroy Hodges\, Barbara Hodges\, Ashley Mintz\, Lakesha Calvin\, Michael Mucker\, Shadale Smith\, Nadine Shillingford and XPayne. \nThe exhibit is curated by Donna Woodley\, a TSU art instructor.
