SUMMARY:Art Opening and Artist Talks: Folsom Redemption
DESCRIPTION:Photography lovers and music enthusiasts alike are invited to the opening of a major new exhibition titled 1968: A Folsom Redemption. Writer Gene Beley\, who was with Johnny Cash at his famous Folsom Prison concerts\, will be on hand from 2 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. for an Artist Talk. Admission is free to hear his fascinating first-hand account of Johnny Cash’s unforgettable performances. The official Art Opening will be 6 to 8 p.m. inside Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center’s Papillon Gallery. Sumner County Tourism is sponsoring 1968: A Folsom Redemption locally as part of its Historic Sites Kickoff from April 5-7\, 2024. SUMMARY:Muddle Through the Metal Redux (April 20th & 21st)
DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand: In this fun\, innovative two-day workshop\, the renowned artist Valentine Adams will lead participants through the process of creating “reclaimed metal sculptures.” Participants are encouraged to bring with them small metal objects that may have a special texture\, patina or nostalgic value. Using their imaginations\, they will then integrate these disparate pieces into fantastical sculptures\, breathing new life\, if you will\, into discarded debris (reclaimed art!). This event will involve light welding\, soldering and wire bending. Participants will get to take home a terrific new work of art. \nThe workshop is appropriate for adults\, teens\, and older children under supervision. \nThe $125 fee covers all supply costs. The two-day workshop is 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday\, April 20th (includes light lunch) and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday\, April 21st. Space is very limited. To Register\, Click HERE.

SUMMARY:Moonlight and Magnolias
DESCRIPTION:The Fifth Annual Moonlight and Magnolias returns to the MACC bigger and better than ever. The MACC’s premier annual fundraiser\, Moonlight and Magnolias is an elegant black-tie gala event that brings together many of Sumner County’s most prominent arts patrons for an evening of art\, music\, fine dining and dancing. Each Moonlight and Magnolias highlights a different artist\, whose works hang in our galleries. These artists also conduct master classes for our students\, and they create a new work for the MACC’s permanent collection. This year’s artist is Kre8\, whose style is steeped in graffiti art\, tattoo artistry and Surrealism. \nThe schedule for the Fifth Annual Moonlight and Magnolias includes: \n\nApril 25\, 6 p.m.\, Pre-Gala Auction Party called “Blues and Tattoos” at The Standard.\nApril 27\, 6 p.m.\, Gala Black-Tie Event at The Magnolia Cottage.
