DESCRIPTION:Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center’s annual Veterans Art Exhibition features a Bourbon & BBQ Fundraiser to support the MACC’s “Between the Lines” Healing Arts Programs for military veterans. The chairs for this year’s fundraiser are David and Barbara Moomy. \nThe Fifth Annual Exhibition is titled “From Hell to Hollywood” and features the work of noted Vietnam war photographer Nick Ut\, whose photo “Napalm Girl” was awarded the Pulitzer Prize. Ut will be on hand to discuss his work. The evening will include special music\, and our speakers will present information about the MACC’s Healing Arts Program. Why do your images look like everyone else’s? Why are you not inspired? Why are you in a rut? Actually\, equipment and technique are way less important to your success than where you point your camera. Master photographer Jerry Atnip will share his secrets to creating interesting\, memorable and important work with images\, stories and lessons he’s learned in his 46-year career of fine art and commercial photography. This masterclass for students 18 and up will provide hands-on demonstrations of creating environmental portraits. Attendees will learn how to make better images of people by controlling light and settings. Bring your camera or camera phone to create your images. A light lunch will be provided. DESCRIPTION:The blues band Super Honk brings its tower of power to the MACC’s Second Annual Sweet Summer Concert Series. \nA Nashville-based quartet\, Super Honk pays homage to the blues legends of old\, the icons that created a style of music that has influenced almost every style of music today. From Muddy Waters to Robert Johnson … Super Honk will have you dancing the night away. \nAll concert series performances take place beneath the stars on the lawn of beautiful Monthaven mansion. Food trucks and beverage tents are available to provide refreshments to visitors\, who are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets. Admission to this amazing event is free.
