SUMMARY:Colorful Traditions: Pysanky Egg Crafting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Pysanky eggs have a rich and fascinating history. Dating back thousands of years\, this traditional Ukrainian craft involves the dyeing of intricate and ornate Easter eggs. The term “pysanky” comes from the Ukrainian verb “pysaty\,” which means “to write.” These eggs are meticulously decorated using a wax-resist method\, where designs are drawn with melted beeswax onto the eggshell. The egg is then dyed in a sequence of colors\, with each layer of wax preserving the previous color and revealing the next. Pysanky eggs hold great cultural and symbolic significance\, representing the rebirth and renewal associated with Easter. \nIn this three-hour workshop\, students ages 10 – adult will receive step-by-step instruction on creating their own stunning pysanky eggs. We’ll cover the traditional techniques of applying wax and dye\, as well as explore various design patterns and motifs. Students will learn how to achieve vibrant colors and beautiful\, intricate designs on their eggs. \nFeel free to bring any snacks or drinks you’d like to enjoy during the class. We want you to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience as you delve into the art of pysanky egg dying. Get ready to create beautiful and unique Easter eggs while learning about the rich traditions and history behind this ancient craft. \nThe class is $40.  To register for this limited workshop\, click HERE.

Her Gospel roots naturally segued into the Blues where you can still hear and feel the hints of Soul along with her grittiness of Rock. Today\, she is most comfortable on stage performing in her own unique style\, sharing her heart and soul to each audience through her love of music.

SUMMARY:Shakers and Breakers and Music Makers: Contemporary Portraits by Stas Namin
DESCRIPTION:Stas Namin is a legend\, the one true rock star of Eastern European music and art. Since the 1960s\, Stas has experimented with almost every creative medium imaginable\, earning him a level of critical and popular acclaim that perhaps no other contemporary Eastern European artist has achieved. \nAs one of the only musical superstars in all of Eastern Europe\, Stas has taken his cultural status seriously and used it to promote freedom of speech\, freedom of press\, and freedom from government oppression and the growth of music and art across the continent. It’s no surprise that Stas has often been referred to as “the Bob Dylan of Russia.” \nA highly accomplished visual artist\, Stas will be the featured artist for the MACC’s Fourth Annual Moonlight & Magnolias. His evocative paintings and graphic works featuring many of the great rock stars of the 1960s\, ‘70s and beyond will be on display in the MACC’s galleries. These same works have been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout Russia and around the world. \nFree Admission \nARTIST TALK AND BRUNCH\nSunday\, April 30\n12 p.m. to 2 p.m. \nReserve you space now to participate in this exclusive experience with cultural icon Stas Namin as he explores the much-debated concept of What is Art? \nFor more information\, call (615) 822-0789.
