Trees are also embellished with gifts and sold through a silent auction. All proceeds support the MACC’s arts education and outreach activities. This year’s Christmas Tree Elegance coincides with the opening of the exhibit The Magic of Santa\, featuring the art of Ralph J. McDonald. Admission to the exhibit and tree auction is free. DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand: In this fun\, innovative two-day workshop\, the renowned artist Valentine Adams will lead participants through the process of creating “reclaimed metal sculptures.” Participants are encouraged to bring with them small metal objects that may have a special texture\, patina or nostalgic value. Using their imaginations\, they will then integrate these disparate pieces into fantastical sculptures\, breathing new life\, if you will\, into discarded debris (reclaimed art!). This event will involve light welding\, soldering and wire bending. Participants will get to take home a terrific new work of art. The workshop is appropriate for adults\, teens\, and older children under supervision. The $125 fee covers all supply costs. DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Bill Puryear’s artwork\, which is on display at the MACC through July 23\, we’ve focused our recent Lunch and Learn workshops on the fine art of landscape painting. Now\, students ages 18 and up will take their work to the next level as they experiment with the art of creating abstract landscapes. Teacher Nathaniel Evans will introduce students to techniques of line\, color and texture that enhance a landscape’s sense of mystery while maintaining a toehold in the real world. Langford’s palate ranges from bold earth tones to vibrant color combinations\, evoking an energy of joy and keeping it fun. \nWe invite you to join us for an Artist Opening Reception and Paint Mixing Demonstration with Dana. Both events will be a wonderful opportunity to meet the artist\, view the works\, and enjoy refreshments at our newest location and gallery located at 300 Indian Lake Blvd\, #A140\, within the Streets of Indian Lake. SUMMARY:Cole Ritter and the Night Owls Return to the MACC
DESCRIPTION:The Nashville-based Cole Ritter and the Night Owls headline a show as part of the MACC’s Second Annual Sweet Summer Concert Series. Founded in 2019\, the Night Owls have pioneered new sonic spaces\, creating along the way their own unique\, home-grown style. The award-winning band is led by Cole Ritter\, a Sumner County native best-known for his appearance on the American Idol TV series. \nAll concert series performances take place beneath the stars on the lawn of beautiful Monthaven mansion. Food trucks and beverage tents are available to provide refreshments to visitors\, who are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets. Admission to these amazing events is free. The four-concert series kicks off June 3 with a performance by Nashville vocal sensation Jonell Mosser. A fixture on Nashville concert stages for more than 30 years\, Mosser has a voice that can belt like Janis Joplin one minute\, and then convey the finesse of folk\, jazz and Southern soul the next. Her performance at the inaugural concert series was widely praised. \nPerformances take place beneath the stars on the lawn of beautiful Monthaven mansion. Since the 1960s\, Stas has experimented with almost every creative medium imaginable\, earning him a level of critical and popular acclaim that perhaps no other contemporary Eastern European artist has achieved. \nAs one of the only musical superstars in all of Eastern Europe\, Stas has taken his cultural status seriously and used it to promote freedom of speech\, freedom of press\, and freedom from government oppression and the growth of music and art across the continent. About 60 of his works will be on display in the galleries. \nThe guest speaker for the Fourth Annual Moonlight & Magnolias will be Lois Riggins-Ezzell\, director emeritus of the Tennessee State Museum.
