SUMMARY:Dana Pettit: A Divine Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Artist Dana Pettit will be on hand to discuss her new exhibition A Divine Appointment\, which runs April 18-27 at Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center. The exhibit features portraits of Jesus rendered in different styles of Western art. Pettit created the works in this series as part of her own personal quest to find God. Realizing that the mystery of Christ was too profound to convey in a single artistic style\, she opted to create a series of portraits ranging in styles from Baroque and Impressionism to Surrealism and Pop Art. This Artist Talk will offer a perspective on art as a reflection of divine purpose\, exploring faith\, destiny and creative purpose. Whether you’re an art lover\, a person of faith\, or simply curious about the creative process\, this talk provides an opportunity to connect with Pettit and her art on a deeper level. For more information\, call (615) 822-0789.

SUMMARY:Nowville: The Untold History of Nashville's Contemporary Art Scene
DESCRIPTION:How did Nashville’s surging contemporary art scene gets its start? That’s the subject of Nashville author and intermedia art Joe Nolan’s new book Nowville. Nolan will be on hand to discuss his book at this special session of Meet Me At the MACC. \nNolan describes his book as an oral history of Nashville’s art scene beginning in the 1990s. A first-hand witness to many of the events described in the book\, Nolan tracked down the city’s art punks\, art monks\, radical art students\, and visionary pioneers to share what made their moments in Nashville so special. His book offers insights into how this homespun movement –powered by DIY innovating – came to be a thriving creative community and a cornerstone of the city’s contemporary allure. \nIn this special Meet Me At the MACC presentation\, Nolan will offer his perspective on where the city’s art scene currently stands\, and where he sees it going. The talk is a must for artists interested in navigating the city’s contemporary art scene. The event will include a book signing. \nThis event is free\, but registration is required. SUMMARY:From Fire to Flow: Crafting with Iron and Colored Resin (July12th & 13th)
DESCRIPTION:From Fire to Flow: Crafting with Iron and Colored Resin (July 12th & 13th) \n \nIn this iron and colored resin pouring class\, you’ll explore the fusion of metal casting and resin artistry. The process begins with designing and preparing molds\, into which molten iron is carefully poured to create strong and intricate metal forms. After the iron has cooled and solidified\, colored resin is introduced\, filling voids\, cracks\, or intentional spaces to create striking visual contrasts. This combination of industrial and artistic techniques results in unique\, one-of-a-kind pieces that showcase both the raw strength of metal and the fluid vibrancy of resin. Through this class\, you’ll develop skills in mold-making\, metalworking\, and resin pouring\, blending craftsmanship with creative expression. \nThe workshop is appropriate for adults\, teens\, and older children under supervision.  \nThe $150 fee covers all supply costs.  Please be aware that this class will be held at Val’s studio located at 2853 Rural Hill Circle in Nashville. \nThe two-day workshop is 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Space is very limited. \nTo Register\, click the button below. \n \n Click here\n \n\n	\n	Add to calendar	\n \n	\n \n\n\n	Google Calendar\n\n\n	iCalendar\n\n\n	Outlook 365\n\n\n	Outlook Live

SUMMARY:Somers Randolph Artist Talk
DESCRIPTION:Stone can be an unforgiving medium for sculptors. One errant swing of a mallet or a poorly placed chisel can shatter weeks of concentrated work. For the closing of the MACC’s Canvas + Stone exhibition\, the renowned stone sculptor Somers Randolph  will be on hand to discuss the challenges of his singular artform. Randolph will demonstrate the processes he uses to create his amazing sculptural shapes\, with their delicate curves and arcs\, intricate whorls and spirals\, and sensuous undulating knots. He’ll also discuss the luminosity of his polishing technique\, a final touch that turns each of his works into an unquestioned masterpiece. This event offers a unique opportunity to meet the artist\, ask questions and celebrate the final day of Randolph’s and painter Kathryn Dettwiller’s striking group exhibition.
